Recreations of 60's Sainsburys Packaging

Ive been looking at iconic work recently and trying to work out how they were made, and how I would go about trying to make them, to this point I've just been thinking about it. But I decided to give these 60s packaging designs a crack. I set some rules out, that i could not do any tracing of images or use the pen tool (for the challenge, I can however use the colour picker tool).
Due to the evolving typefaces in use, I decided to have Helvetia as the uniformed typeface for my versions (Helvetia being used in the first one I decided to recreate in the cola packaging).
Sainsburys was odd in the early 60s for setting up an in-house design department (since the early 90s it has been outsourced). The department with their first in-house designer, Peter Dixon, experimented with a variety of methods, including overprinting (printing a transparent colour over an image- similar technique is used digitally for a lot of social media posts by brands now).
A lot of information about the designs and the history of the in house studio was found from ‘own label’ by Jonny Trunk.

Above is the Packaging for cola. There were several challenges with this particular one. The angle of 'Sainsbury's' was difficult to replicate and the kerning of 'cola'.
The instant dried milk proved to be interesting due to the size of the type. Keeping it in proportion was difficult. With my decision of having a rule to not use the pen tool, the shape at the bottom was really difficult, resulting in the more rounded edges.
The decision to restrict my self from the pen tool also had its challenges in this one with the shape of the egg.
